Stephanie Nie
Courses taken:
- Global Issues and Challenges (23 November - 12 December 2022)
- A City of Spell Books and Broomsticks: London in the Literature of the Fantastic (15 February - 6 March 2023)
- Environmental Conservation and Sustainable Thinking: Natural Places as Heritage (23 November - 11 December 2023)
- Introduction to Philosophy: from Ancient Greece to the Wonder of Science (20 February - 27 March 2025)
"This program offered different areas of study (such as Environmental Science and Philosophy) that I would otherwise not have had the chance to learn about in school had I not participated in them. Not only did the Notre Dame scholar's program allow me to discover different passions, but I was also able to extend those passions into my academics in school. My first course, Global Issues and Challenges, is the reason why I'm now studying Global Politics for the IBDP; taking the Literature course piqued my interest in reading English Literature novels; and the Philosophy course led me to include philosophical factors in a research paper that I've published. The lessons were what I looked forward to the most every week during the programs, and I am very much grateful for having chosen to participate."

- Environmental Conservation and Sustainable Thinking: Natural Places as Heritage (23 November - 11 December 2023)
- Introduction to Philosophy: from Ancient Greece to the Wonder of Science (22 February - 18 March 2024)
- Global Issues and Challenges II (28 October - 9 December 2024)
"During the program, I enjoyed engaging with different subject areas that were not available in a typical high school curriculum. I took three courses: Environmental Conservation and Sustainable Thinking, Introduction to Philosophy, and Global Issues and Challenges ll. It was enlightening to learn how the professors engage with the subject and apply such a learning for the presentation at the end of each course, and the courses definitely inspired my curiosity for more questions about each subject!"

"This program offered a unique gateway into academic disciplines beyond the scope of my high school education. Through courses in Environmental Conservation, Philosophy, and Global Issues, I was exposed to the rigors of university style teaching. What inspired me most was being able to directly engage with the professors' scholarly passion, which taught me how to explore and pursue the wider field of studies that I was previously unaware of. To me, the three courses didn't just provide answers, it essentially reshaped my curiosity and passion to studying, driving me but also preparing me for deeper readiness for the demands of university academics."
