Research

Notre Dame International is building, sustaining, and encouraging academic and research collaboration with leading universities in the Greater China region, including mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. This grant program is part of the University’s broader international strategy to engage Greater China by building upon existing academic partnerships and strengthening opportunities for research, scholarship, and graduate student training.

Notre Dame International and departments across the University offer funding opportunities for international research that can be used toward work at the Beijing Global Gateway.

Asia Research Collaboration Grant

Through the generous support of University benefactors, Notre Dame International is providing funding to build, sustain, and encourage academic and research collaboration (research projects, faculty and graduate student exchange, conferences, seminars, etc.) with universities in Asia. Preference will be given to proposals that involve research collaborations with universities in greater China and India. Preferred universities in greater China include the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Yuan Ze University (Taiwan), Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Zhejiang University. For research collaborations involving universities and research institutions in India, preference will be given to those NDI can support through the Mumbai Global Center.

Global Gateway Faculty Research Awards

The Global Gateway Faculty Research Awards (GGFRA) is funded by Notre Dame International and Notre Dame Research and provide annual funding up to $50,000 USD to support faculty research and fellowships. The grants are open to full-time, regular faculty from all colleges, schools, and fields of discipline. The purpose of the grant is to support internationally significant individual faculty research projects and/or collaborations with locally-based research academies, universities, or research groups.

Wine Family Beijing Global Gateway Research Grant Program

Through the generous support of University benefactors, Notre Dame International is providing funding to build, sustain, and encourage academic and research collaboration (research projects, conferences, seminars, etc.) with universities in Beijing. Funding is allocated for proposals that involve research collaborations with universities in Beijing, China.

Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis and projects will be offered administrative and logistical support through the Beijing Global Gateway. While the funded research may be based at a university in Beijing, faculty are required to hold a seminar or workshop at the Beijing Global Gateway (maximum seating 40) as part of their proposed academic cooperation or program.
