10月12日星期五晚7点，圣母大学刘氏亚洲研究院院长贺麦晓（Michel Hockx）教授将莅临美国圣母大学北京中心，概述美国学术界从上世纪50年代至今在中国研究上的三大趋势：“汉学”、“冷战” 和 “全球事务”。

过去三十多年，贺麦晓教授分别在美国和欧洲以及中国的多所大学从事中国文学与文化研究，并曾担任伦敦大学中国研究院院长以及伦敦孔子学院院长。

On Friday, October 12th at 7 pm, Professor Michel Hockx, founding director of the Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies at the University of Notre Dame, will give a talk at the Notre Dame Beijing Global Gateway and provide a broad overview of trends in Chinese Studies in the USA from the 1950s to the present. Three trends will be discussed in detail: the “sinological” approach, the “cold war” approach, and the “global affairs” approach.

Prof. Hockx’s career in Chinese Studies spans more than three decades, during which he has taught and researched Chinese literature and culture at universities in the USA, Europe, and China. He is former director of the China Institute at SOAS, University of London, as well as former director of the London Confucius Institute.
