AI Apocalypse: Myth or Reality?

-

Location: 5C WeWork, Pacific Century Place, Beijing, China

Artificial intelligence has the power to revolutionize our world, offering solutions to some of the most challenging problems we face. Yet, alongside its promise comes a spectrum of concerns about safety, ethics, and existential risks.

Please join us on July 3 for a thought-provoking AmCham China Education Committee's Ed Talk event that delves into the pressing question of our time: Is the notion of an AI apocalypse a myth, or could it become a reality? As artificial intelligence continues to advance at an unprecedented pace, concerns about its potential to cause catastrophic outcomes for humanity are growing.

This event brings together renowned professors, AI experts, and industry leaders to explore and debate this critical issue. We are excited to announce that Don Howard from the University of Notre Dame and Richard Zhang from Intel will be our esteemed guests, sharing diverse perspectives, grounded in both technological expertise and ethical considerations, helping us understand the true scope of AI's impact on our future. Jim Lin from IBM will also participate in this event as a moderator for a panel discussion.

The "Ed Talk" series aims to gather leading experts and educators to showcase their latest academic findings or perspectives on emerging industrial trends. This event is open to all AmCham China members. Attendees are required to RSVP by July 2 to confirm attendance.

Welcome Remarks by Ms. Jingyu Wang, co-chair of Education Committee, American Chamber of Commerce in China; executive director of Notre Dame Beijing
